DCC- Social Value Strategy - Have your say!


Derbyshire County Council has launched a consultation into their plans to include Social Value when procuring local services, including those from the voluntary and community sector.

The Social Value Act 2012 came into force on 31 January 2013. The act places a requirement on commissioners (and procurement officers) to consider the economic, environmental and social benefits of their approaches to the procurement of public services.

A group comprising representatives from departments has been established to support the development of Social Value across the council. The group has produced a draft Social Value Strategy, which sets out the aims, priorities and key actions required to develop Social Value.  

The consultation process is important in ensuring that the voluntary and community sector and suppliers are able to input their views.

The consultation is aimed at:

  • Contracted service providers (and those hoping to win contracts)

  • Service users

  • Voluntary and community organisations
