Triangle Trust 1949 Fund

Deadline: 30th October 2024

This round offers grants of up to £80,000 over two years (up £40,000 can be requested per year) for proposals focused on targeted work with high-risk young women and girls ages 11 and 30 who are on the edge of the criminal justice system.

Registered charities, not-for-profit social enterprises and community interest companies that are working within the UK and have a UK office can apply as long as they can clearly show that women and girls make up at least 80% of their total beneficiaries across their whole organisation. They need to have a proven track record of running projects with vulnerable and challenging young women and girls between the ages of 11 and 30 years, and their work is both gender and trauma informed.

There is particular interest in funding projects working with young women and girls who are care experienced, come from Black or minoritized/racialised communities and work that is led by people with lived experience.

The Trust particularly welcomes applications from organisations working in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

British Science Week - Community Grant Scheme

Deadline: 5th November 2024

The Community Grants scheme aims to expand and diversify the audiences who engage with science and grow interest in science by empowering and supporting community groups to run their own science activities during British Science Week (7-16 March 2025).

Two levels of grants are available:

  • £500 grants to run one or more events during British Science Week.
  • £1,000 grants to run one or more events during British Science Week, as well as either preparatory or follow-up activities that will lead to continued engagement beyond British Science Week.

Applications will be considered from community-based groups and organisations that work directly with audiences who are traditionally underrepresented and currently not engaged in science activity, including:

  • People from ethnic minority backgrounds.
  • People living in communities which face deprivation, including people disadvantaged in terms of education and income.
  • People with a disability or long-term health condition.
  • People living in a remote and rural location, defined as settlements of less than 10,000 people.
  • Girls and women, with priority given to community groups who work with at least one other underrepresented group.

The grants can be used for materials, room hire, publicity, speakers, trainers, freelancers, project-specific staff costs, audio-visual hire, reasonable volunteer expenses, transport or other costs of running the event or activity.

Asda Foundation Grassroots Programme

Deadline: 8th November 2024

Each year, the Asda Foundation receives a donation from Asda Stores which is used to provide grant funding to grassroots groups at the heart of communities throughout the UK. The Foundation works with In-store Asda Community Champions to award grants to the local groups that need them most.

The Asda Foundation Grassroots programme has three funding streams and applications are now accepted:

  • Empowering Local Communities: initiatives to address diverse local challenges and support local initiatives for residents over the age of 18 years.
  • Under 18 Better Starts: projects to tackle poverty, address inclusion and boost wellbeing for children and young people under 18 years.
  • Cost of Living: support for local community groups to help with volunteer-related costs, rent/utilities expenses and food/essentials.

Charities and not-for-profit organisations based in the UK can apply grants of between £400 and £2,000. The awards are fixed at £400, £500, £800, £1,000, £1,200, £1,600 and £2,000.

Application forms can be obtained from Asda Community Champions, who are based in local Asda stores: applicants can use the store locator link on the Asda Foundation website to get in touch with their local store and speak to their Community Champion about their project proposal.

Arts Council England Creative People and Places Programme

Deadline: 16th January 2025

Grants of between £750,000 and £1 million will be available over three years. The funding is for programmes in 142 eligible locations (Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire are included) that support the public in shaping local arts and cultural provision and, in so doing, increase attendance and participation in excellent art and culture. Activities must be delivered over three years and take place, starting on 1 April 2026 and ending by 31 March 2029.

It is expected that at least 15% of the total project costs should come from other sources.

Both existing and new Creative People and Places programmes can apply. The group must include representatives from community groups and cultural organisations. This can consist of arts organisations, museums, libraries, amateur groups and voluntary and community sector groups.

Lead applicants must have an initial conversation with an Arts Council England Relationship Manager before applying. This must be done before 19 December 2024.

COSARAF – Hardship Grants

COSARAF is offering grants of up to £2,000 to organisations that support families and individuals from across the UK who are in financial need and struggling with everyday costs such as basic expenses, utilities, or rent arrears.

Through the Hardship Grants Programme, recognised third-party social organisations, such as charities, housing associations, schools, and social services which are acting on behalf of a family or individual in need, can apply for funding to support vulnerable individuals with costs such as:

  • Household items, such as white goods, and occasionally furniture such as sofas or wardrobes.
  • Basic living expenses, such as utilities and food.
  • Work or education-related expenses.
  • Rent or Council tax arrears where there is a clear risk of homelessness.
  • Immigration-related costs, where a person’s current immigration status is causing financial hardship.

Priority will be given to:

  • The most financially excluded people.
  • Families over individuals.
  • Those with caring responsibilities.
  • Items that will make the most difference to the individual/family’s long-term future.

Most grants are typically around £500. Applications are assessed every six weeks and groups can expect to receive a response within eight weeks of their application.
